Piloting & Demonstration

Design, Procurement, Commissioning & Operation of Pilot and Demonstration Water Treatment Units

The gap between a technology that works in a beaker and one that works reliably at commercial scale, on real feedwater, in Northern Alberta conditions, is where most water treatment projects succeed or fail. GWTS designs, procures, commissions, and operates pilot and commercial demonstration units that close that gap — generating the real-world performance and economic data needed to support a confident full-scale investment decision.

This is a hands-on, field-tested capability, not a theoretical service. Our team has executed pilot programs ranging from bench-scale membrane screening through multi-month commercial demonstration units, including the GWTS SWRO pilot at a Northern Alberta mine site (Sept–Dec 2025) and the Calgary DLE demonstration program (2022–2024).

What We Deliver

  • Pilot program design — scale, duration, instrumentation, and sampling protocol matched to the decision the pilot must support
  • Equipment procurement and skid fabrication, or deployment of GWTS-owned mobile pilot units
  • Site installation, utility connection, and safety commissioning at client or third-party sites
  • Day-to-day pilot operation, sampling, and data logging by qualified GWTS technical staff
  • Real-time troubleshooting and process adjustment as feedwater conditions vary
  • Final basis-of-design report translating pilot data into full-scale system design parameters
